For most pupils, compulsory education ends at the end of S4.  However, more and more pupils are returning to school for a fifth or sixth year.  From the Option Sheet on previous page, it can be seen that a large variety of courses are on offer.

Such courses include:

• a maximum of five subjects at Higher Grade
• ‘Higher Still’ courses providing a much wider range of courses than the previous Highers - many of these courses are organised in units of approximately 40-hour duration
             

Students will be able to take whichever range of courses best suits their needs.  Further details are issued to parents in the S5/6 Options Booklet.
