Facilities

The library has 6000 fiction and non-fiction books, audiocassettes, CD-ROMs available.

The non-fiction stock is shelved according to the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme. There is also a reference section.

The fiction books are arranged into Accelerated Reader for S1 and S2, Fiction for S3 and S4 and Senior fiction for S5/6.

The library has a suite of 20 PCs with Microsoft Office, Inspiration mind-mapping software, Accelerated Reader, ALICE inquiry and some subject specific programs.

Opening hours

Lunchtimes from 12.50 to 1.10pm.

After school on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons until 3.40.

You need a pass to get to the library at lunchtimes. Passes are available from the Librarian or teachers. The library is not open at morning interval.

Rules

Leave your bags and non-uniform items by the door. No eating or drinking is allowed in the library and you must follow the classroom code.

 

Loans

Every book borrowed from the library must go through ALICE the library computer system.

You are allowed 1 fiction (story) book and 1 non-fiction (fact) book at a time. Books can be borrowed for 2 weeks and then they should be returned. The library does not charge fines for overdue books.  Overdue books may be returned at registration.

Unreturned loans

If your book is not returned on time, you will be sent a reminder via your register teacher about 10 days after the book becomes overdue. If you do not return your book within 3 months, you details and the cost of the books will be passed to your Year Head. You will not be allowed to use the facilities  of the library until your debt is cleared.

Unreturned books or books which pupils admit are lost should be paid for at a rate of approximately half the original price of the book, unless the book is brand new.
